Stephen Foster Memorial accompanies the Cathedral of Learning Tower

Today (January 13) in 1864 Stephen Foster died impoverished in Bellevue Hospital (I once spent 3 months working at VA Hospital Manhattan and mid-air there was a walk-path connecting to Bellevue Hospital) at NYC at age of 37.  Foster was buried in the Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

In front of the Cathedral of Learning Tower at the University of Pittsburgh campus there lies Stephen Foster Memorial.  It was also designed by Charles Klauder to accompany his Cathedral of Learning.  Here are a few photos.

My favorite Stephen Foster’s song is My Old Kentucky Home.

The favorite song of our good friends, Sandra and Charlie, is Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair.  We’ve heard Charlie sang this song for Sandra, just like Stephen Foster composed it for his wife.
