Whitney Houston died today at age of 48. I wouldn’t go that far to say today the music
died. But it is a great loss of another
American music talent. It is a tragedy
of her ignominious downfall in recent years due to drug abuse, which probably
“did her in”. (When the flower girl in My Fair Lady said “did her in”, the lady
in the high society had no idea of what it means: “killed her”.) During her interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer
in 2002, she said, “The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best
friend or my worst enemy.”
Her music had a deep root in American soul and
gospel music. This is her “I Love the
Lord”,
