Scruff: learn the vocabulary reading the comic strip

It was said that Churchill’s vocabulary has been estimated at 65,000 and he used it well, especially the short ones.  He was excited when he first learnt the word “stunt” imported from America.


I may know the word “vicissitude” and how to use it, but I do not know “scruff” is used to mean facial hair after a shave; it also means “one that is worthless or contemptible; ruffian).  This comic strip also has a word “flaunt” for which I wrote a post that is worth your while to re-read.
