My nephew’s marguerite and hardy fall mum in our graden

I came across a Facebook post of “粉紅色的瑪格莉特” (see photo right) by my nephew, Ken Chang, who is a budding (or experienced?) gardener.  It is hard to believe that marguerite (瑪格莉特) actually belongs to the chrysanthemum (菊花) family.  Marguerite is also called painted daisy or chrysanthemum coccineum with a yellow center and pale to hot pink.

The following photos (taken from early October to early November, 2011) are chrysanthemums (hardy fall mums) that bloomed lonely in our garden when all the summer glories withered.  They came from Mrs. Wen (an excellent gardener) and Katy kept transplanted with root cuttings (a book says “mum on the move”).

Our chrysanthemum is more elaborate and richer.  We brought iris and chrysanthemum (both are in our garden) in our hearts when we took Dr. Chung-Cheng Wand (王炯珵) to Mt. Vernon last May as the wreath with which Churchill used while visiting George and Martha Washington’s tomb was made of iris and chrysanthemum.
